Chapter 1, Leah's Secret Revealed

"Mr. Caleb Flint - Fletchley, do you agree to marry Miss Aria De Moura? Will you take care of her, protect her, and never leave her, no matter the circumstances of life or death, poverty or wealth? Do you?" The priest asked Caleb.

Aria was surprised when she heard her name. She glanced at the priest, wondering how he knew her name. She had been worried what she'd do if he would said her Leah's name instead.

The guests were also puzzled and whispered to each other. The bride's name seemed to be different.

"I do." Caleb replied, his tone as indifferent as ever.

The priest nodded in satisfaction and turned to Aria, asking, "Miss Aria De Moura, do you agree to marry Mr. Caleb Flint - Fletchley? Will you take care of him, protect him, and never leave him, no matter the circumstances of life or death, poverty or wealth? Do you?"

Aria looked at the priest and said, "I do."

The priest smiled and said, "Now, you may exchange rings."

The best man and bridesmaid brought forward a box containing the rings. Aria held a ring in one hand and gently held Caleb's hand with the other, sliding the ring onto his ring finger.

Although she appeared calm on the surface, she was actually nervous, her palms sweaty.

It was now Caleb's turn to put the ring on Aria's finger.

He held the ring in one hand and held Aria's hand in the other, trying to put the ring on her finger.

But it got stuck at the joint and couldn't go in.

The ring was too small.

The ring was sized for Aria's sister, Leah. Leah was very slim, weighing only around 80 pounds despite being 165 centimeters tall. Aria, on the other hand, was about the same height but weighed over 100 pounds, so her fingers were naturally a bit thicker than Leah's.

Looking at her fair and plump fingers, Caleb glanced at Aria and a hint of amusement flashed in his eyes.

Aria felt embarrassed and her face turned red.

Should she lose weight?

Seeing that the ring ceremony was complete, the priest nodded in satisfaction and looked kindly at the newlyweds. "Groom, now you may kiss your beautiful bride."

Aria's heart skipped a beat and she nervously looked at Caleb. When she saw him staring at her, she averted her gaze in a fluster, her eyelashes trembling anxiously.

Caleb gently grabbed Aria's arm with both hands and leaned towards her with a handsome face.

Aria knew there was no escape. She looked at his cold and elegant face getting closer and closer, and with a "swish." she closed her eyes in nervousness. Her small hands tightened on her dress.

Then, she felt a cool sensation on her lips.

She opened her eyes in surprise.

Caleb had actually kissed her!!!

She had thought that Caleb was just going through the motions, using a deceptive position. But she didn't expect him to actually kiss her for real.

How could he do that?

She was his sister-in-law!!!

This bastard!

Caleb didn't deepen the kiss and stopped after a brief touch. He didn't taste anything special, maybe just a hint of lip balm. It seemed like she had applied a green apple-flavored lip balm, sour and sweet with a refreshing scent.

Hmm... not bad.

Caleb let go of her and saw her wide-eyed, looking at him in a startled manner. He smiled lightly.

She's kind of cute.

Aria saw Caleb smile and her face turned even redder. Annoyed, she turned her face away.

...

10 p.m., in the hotel's presidential suite.

Today, Caleb and Aria's wedding banquet was held at the only six-star hotel in San Sequoia. With the Flint - Fetchley family's wealth, they had booked the entire hotel and decorated the presidential suite as their wedding room. Red "happiness" characters, colorful heart-shaped balloons, and fragrant roses created a romantic atmosphere.

Warm and romantic.

However, the atmosphere in the suite was awkward, even terrible.

The Flint - Fetchley and De Moura families sat on the sofa. The Flint - Fetchley family was angry, while the De Moura family was uneasy.

"We are truly sorry for today's incident." Christopher, Aria's father, looked at Maxwell with an embarrassed smile.

Maxwell snorted coldly, disdainfully looking at Christopher. "Just a simple apology?"

"Well..." Christopher was at a loss, not knowing what to do.

This incident was originally their De Moura family's fault. Coupled with Maxwell's imposing aura as someone in power, Christopher felt even more uncomfortable in his presence.

In the end, he directed his anger towards Leah, who was sitting nearby. He frowned and scolded her, "Apologize to Caleb and the elders."

Leah's eyes were red and swollen. She had been heartbroken all day, and her double eyelids had turned into single eyelids from crying.

Leah looked at Caleb's cold face, the face that had captivated her deeply. He was supposed to be her husband, but now he had become Aria's husband, her brother-in-law.

Her fiancé had turned into her brother-in-law.

Tears welled up in Leah's eyes again. "Caleb..."

She wanted to apologize, but if she really did, wouldn't that mean admitting her mistake and admitting that she had cheated on Caleb?

But not apologizing was not an option either. The evidence was clear, and she had no way to defend herself.

So, she could only look at Caleb with tearful eyes, hoping that he still had feelings for her or loved her. She hoped that his decision to marry Aria today was just a temporary arrangement.
