Chapter 1

"Let's divorce."

"One million pounds, here. That's enough for you to live worry-free for the rest of your life."

"Now, sign those papers and get out of here!"

Married for two years, Lydia never imagined that Hunter would take the first step to talk to her. Sadly, the reason was to demand for a divorce.

"Hunter, why do you want a divorce? Did I do something wrong? I can-"

"I found Payton," Hunter coldly interrupted her.

Lydia was taken aback. Payton?

"But Poppy said... she had already passed away..."

"Shut up!" Hunter rebuked angrily.

He couldn't bear to hear anyone speak ill of her!

Lydia tightly bit her lips, feeling like her heart had been cut open by a knife, making it difficult to breathe.

She had always known that there was a woman who held a special place in Hunter's heart.

Over the years, her husband had gone to great lengths to find her, travelling to various corners of the world.

He even had her name tattooed on his chest.

Hunter was deeply in love with Payton.

Just like she was head over heels for him.

"Hunter, I don't want a divorce. Can't we stay together? I love you..."

Two years ago, Lydia fell off a cliff, and Hunter saved her life.

She was seriously injured and had lost her memory. The first person she saw when she woke up was him. At that moment, she fell in love with him.

Hunter's eyes turned cold. "Lydia, I don't love you! I never have."

Lydia's heart trembled, tears streaming down her cheeks like two springs of water.

No matter how much she loved him, he still didn't love her.

Lydia knew that in his heart, there was only one "Payton" from start to finish.

"Master Goodwin, the helicopter is ready," Hunter's personal assistant, Archie Benson, hurriedly came in to report.

Hunter looked at the divorce agreement on the table and ordered his wife, "Sign it and you have two days to get out of here!"

He turned and walked out without a second thought.

"Hunter!"

Lydia rushed up and hugged Hunter tightly. "Please, don't leave! Don't abandon me!"

Hunter's eyes flashed with a hint of murderous intent, pushing Lydia away with force.

"Let go of me!"

"Ah!"

Lydia stumbled and fell backward, hitting her forehead hard on the ground.

Hunter gave Lydia, lying there still, a quick, cold look before he got on the helicopter without a glance back.

It had been five years. He had been searching for Payton for five years and finally had news of her!

Hunter tightly clenched the ancient bronze and black diamond ring in his hand, eager to see her.

Lydia slowly got up from the ground, rubbing her forehead with one hand. Her eyes filled with affection and sadness now turned into resentment and anger.

"Damn you! You're a despicable man!"

Lydia went back inside, grabbed the pen angrily and signed the divorce agreement without a second thought.

She grabbed her phone and punched in a number.

"Hello, who is this?"

"It's me."

As soon as Lydia spoke, the man on the other end of the line snapped, "What the hell? How am I supposed to know who you are?"

Lydia raised an eyebrow and said, "You can't even recognise my voice, Austin? Have you lost your flair, or are you trying to get rid of me?"

The man on the other end of the phone paused for two seconds before suddenly exclaiming, "Ah, Lydia!"

"Yeah."

As soon as she replied, the man's voice came through the phone, sour and sharp. "You disappeared for two years without a word. I assumed you had bolted with some wild dude."

"I just shared my location with you. Come pick me up!"

The next morning, Lydia stepped out of the villa just as a dazzling diamond-studded Ferrari pulled up.

"Hey, darling," a handsome man with blond hair and chiselled features emerged from the driver's seat and enveloped Lydia in a big warm hug.

Lydia pushed him away mercilessly and jumped into the car.

"Lydia, you heartless woman! I rushed here from America, spending all night on the road and this is how you treat me?!" Austin whined and stomped his feet.

"Don't be silly," Lydia shot back.

Austin followed her into the car. "But I'm the undefeated king!" he boasted.

Lydia didn't bother to respond. "Let's just go."

This place didn't belong to her, just like Hunter never belonged to her. After two years of suffering as a punching bag here, she had finally regained her memory. It was time to investigate who had caused her amnesia. And most importantly, who had tried to kill her.

Two days later, Hunter returned to the villa, exhausted and disappointed.

The information was wrong. The woman he found wasn't Payton.

What a colossal waste of time!

The immense disappointment almost engulfed him.

At that moment, a servant knocked on the door and handed him the divorce agreement.

"Master Goodwin, Madam has signed the agreement and left. She didn't take anything with her, including the bank card you gave her."

Hunter frowned. Did she mean to leave with nothing?

She was very gentle and sensitive, like a small white flower, and had no clue how to do anything. She would starve to death on the streets in two days without money.

Hmmh!

He was almost certain that she was trying to play the pity card.

Hunter decisively spoke up. "Get the divorce proceedings started as soon as possible."

He didn't want to be plagued by this for too long.

Just as the servant left, Archie walked in. "Master Goodwin, about Madam-"

"She's back again?" Hunter furrowed his eyebrows. He knew that this woman wouldn't give up easily.

"No, the media captured Madam entering and leaving a hotel with Austin, the son of the Woods family, the richest family in America, and they stayed there all night."

Hunter's face darkened.

Lydia knew Austin?

Did they go to a hotel together and spend the entire night there?
