"Ahhh!"

With a loud baby cry, a new life came into the world.

Lily Thompson couldn't tell whether she was sweating or crying. She said to the doctor with a hoarse voice, "Let me see the child."

The doctor carried the cleaned baby girl over. "Mrs. Anderson, the child looks like you."

Lily's eyes filled with joy as she prepared to kiss the child. Just the moment...

"Bang!"

Only for her ears to come across a sudden thud which was because of the door of the ward!

As the door of the ward was kicked open and two tall men wearing sunglasses and black suits walked in with fast steps.

"Who are you?" Lily's nerves immediately became tense as she questioned them.

But before she could react any further, one of them walked straight to the bed, picked up the child, and turned away without any other actions as if he was like a programmed robot.

"What are you doing? Stop and give me my child!"

Lily was both devastated and shocked as she saw the action of one of them and thus ignoring the painful wound, she hurriedly got out of bed and chased after him.

But her body was too weak, she only took a few steps and fell to the ground while she was drenched in cold sweat, and her face was pale.

At this moment, a pair of shiny black leather shoes appeared in front of her, gleaming with a cold light emerging from the door just behind the other man.

Lily raised her head and was caught off guard by the man's dark and gloomy eyes.

And it was none other than John Anderson, her husband!

Lily's entire body froze and her eyes filled with emotions as she instantly understood that these two people were sent by John Anderson as they were still standing in the ward with one of them still holding her new born baby.

Thus Lily pushed herself against the ground of the ward and reached near John and grabbed his trouser with trembling hands and asked carefully, "Where are you taking my child?"

John glanced at her with distaste, and kicked her hand away in disgust, "It has nothing to do with you."

Lily asked with red eyes, her voice choked, "I'm the mother, why does it has nothing to do with me?"

John Anderson remained indifferent and coldly spat out three words, "You're not worthy."

Listening to the words of John , Lily's whole life came tumbling down as her entire body froze to almost death.

It’s a clear indication: John wanted to separate her from the child!

For three years of marriage, he showed no interest in her. She thought her genuine affection could warm his heart, but it only earned her the phrase "you are not worthy".

To him, her efforts and love were worth nothing, even having children was a sin.

Just because he hated her, her child would be taken away as soon as she was born, preventing her from experiencing the joy of motherhood.

But her child had just came the world. How could her baby be separated from her?

Going through whole scenario in her mind her body trembled in fear. She humbly rushed to his feet and begged.

"John , I don't want anything, and I don't dream anything else, I just want you to give me my baby."

John Anderson didn't waver in his heart as he looked down at her as if examining a prisoner, with his eyes cold.

He took out a document from his coat pocket and threw it in front of her.

"Sign the divorce agreement , take the fall for Emily's custody and I'll ensure that your mother receives the best medical care."

Lily gasped, unable to believe what she had heard.

"What did you say?, You want me to take the fall for Emily's crime?"

Emily was John Anderson's lover, all the time.

Lily already knew that John had always wanted a divorce, but he actually wanted her to take the fall for Emily's crime?

And while Lily was still trying to process everything , John stood straight while putting his hands in his trouser pockets and his expression was undeniable.

"The Thompson Corporation is bankrupt, and George Thompson, your beloved father, owes another $80 million in gambling debts. If you won't be able to pay when it's due, you know the consequences. Also, if your mother's illness continues, there is only one way out."

Listening to the poisonous words of John , Lily's trembling heart collapsed. Her breathing became rapid, and a sense of bloody flavor rose in her throat, her eyes were coerced to a scarlet hue.

"You're so cruel, using my family to favor Emily!"

While John didn't feel guilty and he leaned over and pinched her chin with his eyes cold, and his tone filled with hatred.

"From the day you planned to climb on my bed, you should have known that this day would come sooner or later. If you dare to plot against me, don't blame me for being ruthless. If you hadn't played a trick to insert yourself into my life, how would I have been separated from Emily?"

Lily shook her head, holding back her tears as she explained, "I've said it many times that I didn't plan this with you as that night , that night three years ago was just an accident!"

She confesses that she has harbored feelings for John since their student days. She has not only professed her love to him on more than one occasion but has also fantasized countless times about marrying him. However, she has never entertained thoughts of the dirty machinations that may come with it.

John Anderson sneered, "An accident?"

Clearly, he didn't believe her.

"Even if it wasn't your trick three years ago, what about ten months ago?, Do you dare to say that you didn't add anything to my drink that night?"

As he realized that he had been deceived twice while still talking because of which he became furious now even wanting to strangle Lily.

Lily's expression suddenly stiffened as she bit her lip, unable to speak for giving her reason

"That day was because...I..."

After more than two years of marriage, their families had been pressuring them to have children, so they let the servants tamper with his drink. She didn't stop them.

She thought that having a child might change John Anderson's attitude towards her...

But reality had slapped her in the face right now!

And her compliance caused the veins on John's forehead to bulge. His grip grew stronger and stronger, "Do you even deserve to bear my child?”

The undisguised hatred and disgust in his eyes deeply wounded her and made her dinally wake up.

Lily's heart shattered into pieces, and bitter tears fell onto the divorce agreement.

She finally realised the fact that it was time to let go.

Thus she laughed bitterly and, without any further explanation, got up from the ground and reached the pen and signed the divorce agreement without any further delays.

John Anderson retracted his gaze with satisfaction and handed the divorce agreement to the lawyer who also entered in ward right after him. Then he instructed his bodyguards, "Send her to prison before it gets dark."

"Yes", One of them nodded.

Looking at the tall and cold figure of John, Lily desperately shouted, "Wait a minute!"

John stopped and frowned impatiently, "What."

"Don't punish the child because of me. The child is innocent. Be kind to her. I've already thought of a name, Lilyana."

And right after she completed her sentence , John carried his action of going out without even looking back at her.

On the way to the prison, Lily didn't struggle or cry. Her face was ashen, her eyes dull and unseeing as she looked out the window.

Until sunset, she spotted the prison gate with a red sports car parked in front, as if it was waiting for her.

Lily reluctantly stepped out of the car, receiving no assistance. Each step she took felt immensely challenging.

At this moment, the owner of the red sports car stepped out as well. She was dressed in opulent garments, both beautiful and fashionable, unmistakably a lady of wealth and prestige. Resting against the car door, the woman gloated with malicious pleasure as she watched Lily's plight.

"How does it feel to go to jail right after you have a baby?"

It’s Emily Williams!

Anger instantly filled Lily's eyes. If it weren't for Emily's hit-and-run incident, Lily wouldn't have to shoulder the blame.

"What are you doing here?"

"I have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?", Emily asked her while playing with the braid of her hair curling it around her finger.

Emily's arrogant and radiant smile made Lily feel deeply unsettled, and a sense of foreboding washed over her.

Perhaps it was Lily's anxious expression that pleased Emily, who smirked in satisfaction which she couldn't control but express.

"Seeing you in such a pitiful state, I won't betray you. The good news is that your sentence can be reduced from six years to four years. You'll save two years in prison and the bad news is..."

Emily paused deliberately and cleared her throat and continued further,"I'm getting married to John next month. Your newborn daughter will be adopted in my name. From now on, I'll be her biological mother."
